Amalgamation

While I am in favour of amalgamation, how it would look or whether it will exist must be determined by the level of support from other municipalities. Some things to take into account will be the number of Councillors, the distribution of services, how we can ensure equal representation for each area's specific interests, as well as administrative concerns.

The process of amalgamation, if accepted, would ideally be gradual, beginning with administrative and essential services (police, fire, etc.), and would probably involve a re-drawing of neighbourhood boundaries.

At this point, amalgamation will require a lot of time and energy, which I feel may be better spent on improving our city's infrastructure.
